I saw this tutorial forever ago, and every time I see my kids' bag of clothes that are too small for them I want to dig in and make one of these dresses. I thought I had saved the tutorial on this lil' ole' blog, but for some odd reason I hadn't! Gasp! So, I {finally} found the tutorial again, and I am posting it this time!!

The Train to Crazy

I found an awesome new website. Well, new to me at least. It is called The Train to Crazy. She has a slew of great tutorials on there. I found her blog while searching for a ladybug wings tutorial for my daughter's ladybug princess costume. Isn't it funny what ideas 5 year-olds come up with for costumes?! 

I really like the look of this little dress, as well as the skirts she has on her blog.

Flowing Skirt

Found this tutorial for making a flowing skirt that looks really easy. I like tutorials that have you just measure the person, add seam allowances and sew, 'cause I don't feel super comfortable yet with paper patterns.

Simple Pajama Shorts Tutorial

Found this really easy tutorial over at MADE. She says this is a tutorial for pajama shorts, but look how cute they are! I would wear those all day! And, it only uses a yard of fabric. I definitely need to add some shorts to my wardrobe for the pleasantly mild summers we have here in Arizona. ;)

There is a great tutorial for making your First Quilt Ever over at Obsessively Stitching. It's broken down into a bunch of smaller steps and she answers questions throughout. There are a lot of other fun projects on that site, as well.

Flower Shirt

Last night I had some girlfriends over for a "re-fashionista" party. Everyone brought their old shirts, fabric & sewing machines and we worked together to refashion some of our boring clothes. It was my first experience with refashioning, and I'm excited to try my hand at it again.

For my shirt we decided to make a flower and attach it to the top left-hand side of the shirt. I don't know where the flower pattern came from, but it was really cute. (Pam, can you enlighten us with its source?) Here is the final product!

And here is a close-up of the flower. We used brown and pink fabrics that have a little give to them, so as the shirt is washed the petals will curl up and fray a little. Don't you love things that get better with time?




It's nice to get together with friends when refashioning, because they can give you ideas, nix bad ones, and cheer you up when the creative juices just plain dry up! Not that I *personally* experienced that. I'm just sayin'...

Okay, who am I kidding?! The brain train completely derailed and I would have been left in a heap of fabric and tears if not for the help of my friends.
