Giving Thanks Journal

I thought this was such a neat idea- a Giving Thanks journal! The post also includes a how-to video, as well as free downloadable cover and inside pages.

A couple of pages

Just thought I'd post a couple of scrapbook pages I've done that I found recently. They aren't super-dee-duper exciting, but that's okay. One I made several years ago, and the other I made a couple months ago. As you can see, my scrapbook style is *really* simple.

Card Sets- "Hi", "Thanks", "Friend" & "You're Doggone Nice"

I made a bunch of cards for our Relief Society Service Auction. I think they turned out pretty nicely, thanks in part to the super cute paper I got from my sis-in-law. I made a total of 10 cards, 2 of each kind, and ended up splitting them into 2 sets of 5, so each set had one of each kind in it. I have a picture of each set together, then each one by itself.

Flower Notecard

I made this card for a bridal shower, but it could be for anything. I just dug through my scraps box and a couple of strips of paper jumped out at me. Then I cut the flowers out of another scrap of paper, added brads to the center of the flowers and "Voila!". All done. And always, always, always ink the edges of everything. It makes it look like a much more finished product. I was looking back on some cards I made when I first started and it's amazing the difference that makes!

Card Party

Here's the link to a post on my family blog about a card party I had a couple of months ago and a picture of the 'thanks' card we made.

Thinking of You cards

I was looking through some old photos and ran across these cards. I had completely forgotten about them. I love the ideas of outlining the box with a fine-tipped marker, and ripping the paper underneath. I also love using staples. They are cheap and give some nice texture.

Baby shower card

Here is a card I made for my friend's baby shower. I just used a die-cut with the big "W" stencil on it. Underneath it has a definition of the word "wonderful". I love that argyle paper. I could just eat it up! One new technique I tried was sanding the edges. I have never tried it before, but I think it ads a nice touch to the die-cut.

Mother's Day Cards

Today I whipped out these two Mother's Day cards. I plan on making more, but here are the first two. They could easily be "Thinking of You" cards, or anything else. They just happen to say "Happy Mother's Day" on them. They would work nicely to be given in a set. If you can't tell in the pictures, the solid colored paper is dark purple. I love green & purple. So fun.

Both together:

The vertical one alone (my fave of the two):

On this card I just drew on the flower stems with a brown acid-free marker. I was debating whether or not to put buttons on the flowers, and my kids decided I should definitely go with the buttons. Being almost 4 years old they practically know everything now, so it's a good thing I followed their advice.

The horizontal one alone (not the best picture in the world, but it will have to do):

The flower embellishments on these cards are just flowers I cut out of the patterned paper. It's a nice little trick, because you save money on buying extra embellishments, and the flowers match perfectly!

* Oh, and the cards really are the same color, same papers, etc. The coloring is just way off in all the pictures. Imagine all the greens are the same.

More Card Ideas

Here are some more card ideas I came up with. Again, I don't know if I actually came up with them, or they were just floating around in my head from other things I've seen, but here they are anyways.

Card Collection

Here is a collection of cards I made. I gave them all to different people, but you could give all four together as a gift.

Card Idea 3

The third of my late night musings. I must have a thing for ripping things lately. Ha!

Card Idea 2

Here is the second of my middle of the night card ideas.

(that 'squiggly line' down the right side is where paper #1 has been ripped)

Card Idea 1

Here is a card idea that came to me last night. I don't know if I was just thinking about a card I saw recently or if it was original, but here it is. There are two more coming.
